Vik Munzik is a funny character; watching his video made me laugh a lot, as did viewing his artwork. When he was showing the picture of the clown skull, I thought that was comical. Google imaging his work, I found some humorous pieces. I enjoy the photo with Medusa in Marinara; I found it quite comical. I don't see this piece of work to be deeply meaningful because I think its main purpose was to be funny. After all, everyone knows Medusa is funny. Even the setup alone brings out laughter. But I do think that he is both a silly artist and a deep artist. Looking at his other pictures that he produced just made me think rather than laugh.

For example, the toy soldier picture I found to be deep. Looking into the picture, the soldier takes commands from the so-called "head honcho." This could be a metaphor for how real life as a solider works and how real life works in general. I think his work has some meaningful aspects of it as well as silly aspects. And that is a good balance; on one hand, he knows how to laugh, and on the other, he can deeply engage you in a picture and spark deep thought

PAINTING WITH LIGHT!!!

The shutter speed must of been really slow, to capture light in the photograph. The light source is probably a small little flashlight. The subjects are the people being traced by the light. The subject is not the light.

The photograph of the camera, the image was probably made with a really slow shutter speed to get the different color lights that trace the camera. The photographer, if I were to guess, he used a gel, to get all the different colors of lights outlining the camera. The subject is the camera.


The third image is interesting because now the subject is the light. Its the goalie trying to save the ball. To catch this like the other photographers shutter speed must of been slow and the light in the photo were different colors, to guess they might have used a gel to get the different colors.

All three photographers capture the concept of typology. They all see that each one thing as an individual and compare them to similar structures. Each of the photographers used their different styles of typologies. All three compared structures/postures of each piece they photographer. Plus with typologies, when they are side by side a similar object, a lot of differences tend to show more. Yes, the similarities are easier see, but differences are not that far. So, typologies not only take things that look similar and compare them, they also exploit the differences between them as well. like Blossfeldt's photographers, they all have that smoothe curvy feeling to them. and that is what makes them typologies because they are different yet the same. Very different thing yet they still give off the same feeling. whether by features or whatever else.

Bechers is typology. And the reason why i say that because his photographers capture the concept of typology. The flipbook posted on the website, while flipping through it, I feel as they are similar in features. But different. All the subjects in the pictures have erect postures, rough edges and have a robotic form to them even though they are made from man made materials. These were all photos of industrial things for example the factories and the water towers. And they were all roughly similar. They all brought out the “industrial” feel of each photograph.

I think I have obtained success with this project. Even though all my subjects were staged, it still portrayed happiness through a motion. Whether Thomas swinging on the swing or watching Tristan jump or Lucas was doing his "Irish" jig, all of the subjects portray happiness through motion. Basically even though the photographs were stage, that natural expressions on the faces of my subjects are real. In picture one with Thomas smiling and swinging, Tristan and Thomas where having a conversation and Thomas was cracking up. The facial expression on Thomas' face was priceless because even though its looks like one of those like mistake pictures because his eyes are partly closed; that was actually Thomas laughing and having a grand time while taking this photo. And that was the beauty of the photograph, that even though I told them to swing on the swing, I didn’t tell them to fake there expressions. I actually just told them I needed to take pictures of people swinging.
Also in the picture with my little sister jumping off the car, she was so excited. She was a good model for the project because with her, happiness portrayed by motion is her thing. I had taken so many pictures of her just being her. This photograph is of her jumping off the car and her expression was great, I didn’t tell her to jump of the car, she was so excited that her ninja instincts started to take over and she was jumping, twisting, and turning; acting like the wild girl she is. And this somewhat natural motion and energy she had gave me a good photograph to work with.
There was only on thing I would have changed about some of these photographs and that is lighting. It gets dark way too fast. And I could not capture enough light in the photo, but it also made a great picture with the picture of the skateboard because the light reflected off his shoes, it was actually quite sweet. I think I successfully portrayed happiness through motion.

The subject that I will be photographing will be clocks. I will photograph the clocks at a certain time of the day. I could manipulate the background, so all the clocks would be photographed with the same background. I would use digital locks rather then analog but if I see analog more interesting then the digital clocks, I will use the analog clocks. I can gain access to a lot of different clocks. I plan capture specific times: 11:11 or 5:55 or 12:34. I would not necessarily take the photograph head on, maybe a little slant. Although, it might be interesting to take the pictures in different angles.
In the typology blog posted on the website: “the photographic image is proof that something happened or it is used as a means of comparison[1]”
Typology is the study of traits in common. The motivation is no matter what subject is, everything of the same subject is similar. For example clocks, if I were to take pictures of clocks no matter what the color of the clock, a clock is still a clock. I think typology connects subjects even if the subjects are not made by the same person. For example picture.
I don’t know if these were made by the same person but they definitely have a lot of similarities but they are different as well. It is very paradoxical, they are the same but different. I think with my clocks, all clocks tell the time but there are so many different clocks that tell time.

In contrast to the prior post, there are some photos that are exciting to look at yet, are very mysterious. For example in the gallery book 2/3pg, i do not know, that is a gathering for an event that is supposed to be happy, like gathering for races or are they gathering for a funeral? I mean what are they gathering for?! or is that the mystery? And the other photo ponder about is that plane sticking out of the ground! is that just a plane crash and people gather there to see what happened or what! I really like the element of mystery in all the photos because even though, some people posed for the photos and others did not there are still elements of mystery in each photo, JHL takes. And that makes the photo interesting, it catches my eye, because lack of color!

His work is interesting, there are no colors to catch your eye, but the subjects in the picture are doing actions that catch the eye. for example in the gallery book pg 8/9 the race car photo, that catches my eye because everything is fast, you only have one chance to see it, but in the photo, the photo slows the race car down catching every detail of the photo, and its showing how fast the car is going. I think the idea of him capturing there photos are that everything still moves on, time moves by. For example the next photo of the kite and the children playing in the field. For on the kite captures my eye because its big and takes the whole pictures, but then your eyes fall upon the small little children playing in the foreground and background. And he's capturing the time by taking the picture. The pictures i've talked about, the pictures captured lively, happy, loving life emotions because everyone is doing something. They are living life in the fast lane.
